Nokia Smart Phone

For several reasons, the Finnish company Nokia was the most popular brand in Bangladesh from the beginning of mobile phone technology. Its remarkable features, gorgeous style, and inexpensive pricing captivated millions of people. Looking back, it’s clear that this brand had the most popular phones in the world before smartphones even existed, and it’s not just in Bangladesh. Various phones from Nokia have been available, each with its own set of features and specs.

Nokia Phones: A Brief History

Among the many magnificent early feature phone models produced by this illustrious company were the Nokia 1110, 1200, N8, 2600, E71, and 6610. Nokia began producing Windows phones when contemporary operating system-based smartphones entered the market. Back then, they were known for including extremely strong and remarkable cameras in their phones. In 2013, the Lumia 1020 made headlines for its stunning 41-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss Optics. The same year also saw the debut of another huge flagship, the Lumia 1520. For the average smartphone user, the Nokia Asha series was a household name. The Asha 501 exemplifies this series. Nokia unveiled their first three Android smartphones, known as the Nokia X Family, at the start of 2014. Unfortunately, Microsoft ended up buying their brand name. The name “Microsoft Lumia” was given to the smartphones manufactured by Nokia at the end of 2014, when the brand formally became Microsoft Mobile. However, Windows Phone didn’t achieve the level of success that Nokia and Microsoft had hoped for. In 2016, Microsoft decided to exit the phone business in Bangladesh.

The Resurrection of Nokia

In mid-2017, after the deal with Microsoft ended, Nokia made the decision to switch to Android under their old logo. They released the Nokia 3, 5, and 6, as well as the 2017 edition of their feature phone, the Nokia 3310. The basic phone was an update on the original Nokia 3310. Once again, Nokia captured the attention of consumers and left a lasting impression with these phones. Better still, at 2018’s Mobile World Congress, they unveiled a 4G feature phone in addition to four new Android phones. The affordable, smart Nokia 1 was one of them. It has the potential to restore their sense of self in this age of smartphones. Nokia has also made notable announcements about the Nokia 8110 (4G) and the Nokia 7 Plus. These devices and subsequent releases solidified Nokia’s position as a full-fledged brand. All the right factors—price, style, charisma, longevity, construction, camera, performance, audio, and customer interest—are once again in sync.

Where does Nokia stand in Bangladesh right now?

In Bangladesh, HMD Global is in charge of distributing Nokia phones. Once again, Nokia has proven to be the most reliable brand in Bangladesh’s feature phone market with launches such as the Nokia 3310 (2017), Nokia 105, Nokia 216, and many more. The company’s low-range cellphones, including the Nokia 1, Nokia 2, and Nokia 2.1, were quite successful. The camera, performance, sound, and durability of their low-mid, mid-range, and high-end phones are well regarded. With all the makings of a dominant brand, Nokia is already a household name in Bangladesh’s phone sector.

Nokia revealed plans to build an assembly plant in Bangladesh in June 2021. The Nokia 3.4 was introduced to the market not long after that. Releases like the Nokia G10 and G20 showed that Nokia was still going strong in 2022. The Nokia G21 was their most recent offering in Bangladesh as of early 2023.
