The Chinese electronics manufacturer Oppo Electronics Corp., or just Oppo, makes cellphones, MP3 players, LCD TVs, and e-book readers. With 6.39% of the global smartphone market in March 2023, Oppo is the fourth most popular brand. With a 9.11% share of the Bangladeshi market, they were ranked fifth. (according to Statcounter)
The past
While the Oppo brand has been around since 2004, the company’s crown jewel—the Oppo Find 7—debuted in May 2014 and has since become an international phenomenon. The Oppo Find 7a, the company’s second phone, was a smashing success all over the globe. In order to reach a wider audience, they have chosen to broaden their business operations to a number of additional countries. In 2016, Oppo surpassed all other smartphone brands in China and became the fourth-most popular brand globally. There has been no need to turn around since then. Even in the year 2022, it remains one of the world’s most popular smartphone brands.
Bangladeshi Oppo
Officially, they began selling their smartphones in Bangladesh in September 2014. They set out on their adventure with a fleet of seven cellphones. In 2014, the business debuted phones with groundbreaking rotating cameras, such as the Oppo N1 Mini and N3. Thanks to this function, a single high-powered camera could serve as both a front- and rear-facing camera. Initially, Oppo was primarily recognized for producing affordable Android smartphones. However, with the recent introduction of several mid-range and premium flagship models, they have successfully broken into the Bangladeshi market’s extremely competitive low-mid-range segment. The youthful demographic responded enthusiastically to phones like the Oppo A3s due to its fashionable notch design, sleek body, excellent performance, powerful battery, and outstanding camera. With the success of this single, they were able to sail into 2019 as one of Bangladesh’s most prominent brands. Even in 2021, Oppo is still among Bangladesh’s most beloved smartphone manufacturers. Their 2021 releases include the Oppo F19 and F19 Pro, among others. By releasing the Oppo A76 at the start of 2022, Oppo managed to stay in the spotlight. In 2023, Oppo will keep releasing new phones like the Oppo Reno8 T, Oppo A77, Oppo A77s, A78, and many more. Some retailers have started selling an unofficial version of a popular phone, such as the Oppo Reno 10 5G.
