Television Type
The many categories or technologies utilized in the manufacture and design of televisions are referred to as television kinds. Televisions come in a variety of display technologies, features, and form factors. Here are some typical varieties of televisions as of my most recent knowledge update in January 2022:
Television with a CRT (Cathode Ray Tube):
Cathode ray tubes were used to display images in older technology. CRT televisions are huge and have been largely phased out in favor of newer technology.
Television with LCD (Liquid Crystal Display):
Images are created using liquid crystal cells and illumination. LCD televisions are slimmer and lighter than CRT televisions. LCD TVs with LED backlighting are a popular subtype.
LED television (light-emitting diode):
A type of LCD television with backlighting provided by light-emitting diodes. LED televisions are frequently more energy efficient and have higher contrast than standard LCD televisions.
Television with plasma:
Images are created using ionized gasses. Plasma TVs were popular due to their superb color reproduction and broad viewing angles, but they have become less widespread as alternative technologies have advanced.
Television with an OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode):
When an electric current is applied to organic compounds, they emit light. OLED TVs have independently lit pixels, which results in higher contrast ratios, deeper blacks, and more brilliant colors.
Television with QLED (Quantum Dot LED):
QLED TVs, developed by Samsung, use quantum dots to improve color and brightness. High-end LED-backlit LCD TVs frequently use QLED technology.
Smart television:
TVs that include internet access and built-in apps. Users of smart TVs can stream material from online platforms, browse the web, and use a variety of applications.
Television with a Curve
A curved screen is included to create a more immersive viewing experience. Curved televisions were designed to enhance viewing angles and depth perception.
Television in 3D:
Three-dimensional content can be displayed. 3D TVs were popular for a short time but have since declined in popularity due to the scarcity of 3D programming and the requirement for special glasses.
Television in 4K/UHD:
Higher resolution than regular HD, usually 3840 x 2160 pixels. Images on 4K TVs are crisper and more detailed.
Television in 8K resolution:
The most recent advancement in TV resolution technology is a resolution even greater than 4K (7680 x 4320 pixels). Although 8K TVs produce extremely detailed images, they may have restricted content availability.
These television types represent various technological breakthroughs and industry trends. Consumers frequently consider display technology, resolution, size, and other features based on their preferences and viewing requirements when purchasing a television.
